DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

Dr. Stephan Morbach

Africa: my personal contacts are with a diabetic foot center in Dar es Salaam (Dr. Z.G. Abbas), where we are just transport a donated device for preventive footwear and building of protheses for diabetic amputees to. I have two further contacts in this country which might be interesting for our projects. Two more african countries I would like to become active in are The Gambia, where I am in connection with a Germany doctor who initiated already a twinning program and Nigeria where lately made some contacts to a surgeon who is dealing with diabetic foot problems and who is eagerly looking for support. Other countries might add.
India: my contacts here are with the MV Hospital and Diabetes Research Center in Chennai (Dr. V. Viswanatan) and with Dr. Sharad Pendsey (Nagpur) which both have done a lot of pioneer-work regarding the diabetic foot in this country already. I am also involved in a Diabetic-foot program initiated by Novo-Nordisk Germany which is focusing on the diabetic foot in India and probably is open to innovative ideas.
